šúŋkawakȟaŋ (Lakota word for Horse) Client: Cheyenne River Youth Project
This mural was created for the Red Can Graffiti Jam in South Dakota, an event held by the Cheyenne River Youth Project. Horses, known as “sacred dogs” in Lakota culture, are central to this piece. I painted a mother horse and her colt running through a landscape of the Black Hills, honoring both the sacredness of the land and the bond between generations. The adult horse represents the community; the colt, the youth who are part of the program. It’s one of my favorite murals—made with deep love and respect, and painted for the people who welcomed me so generously.
