About CRYP and RedCan
CRYP is a grassroots nonprofit in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, serving youth and families on the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation. Each July they host RedCan, the first and only graffiti jam in Indian Country, where artists paint murals across town alongside local youth.
Why I return
Eagle Butte reminds me of growing up in Yakima. I see myself in the youth, and I return to be the adult I needed at their age: a face that looks like theirs, sharing what I love.
